Algebra I By Paul Foerster
I have been bombarded with algebra books and the outcome is unanimous . . . Foerster’s. I think the best part about it is how each chapter is inundated with examples of the concept being explained. It also helps that there is a companion DVD for those harder concepts.
I didn’t purchase the solutions manual since this can only be purchased at full price ($42.00) from the publisher rather than the pennies I paid for all these other math books. In fact I think that solutions manual price is about the same amount I paid for all seven or eight math books in all.
And for those of you who may be interested, I’ve included some snapshots of the table of contents, three lessons and accompanied practice exercises. Click on the images to enlarge.

Thanks for sharing. From what I can see of the lessons you shared, it looks as if the text is basically written as self taught? Do you feel that’s a correct analysis? Is there enough explanation/instruction to be able to do the problems if an average student were seeing Algebra for the first time? I like that there are many examples, that’s really important.
Do you think this would be a good book to follow Saxon Algebra 1/2? Anna did Saxon Algebra 1 with very little problem, but she is also very good in math. Math, however, is Amilia’s weakest subject. She is currently using Saxon Algebra 1/2 but I think she might struggle with using Saxon for further Algebra (or anything else).
Yes, that would be great. I’d like to check them out before I buy either one. If Foerster’s is considered challenging, however, it might not be what I am looking for.
